Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh with Best Player of Year Award.

Hockey India distributed the 7th Annual Awards on Saturday. A ceremony held in New Delhi was awarded the Best Player of the year, Harmanpreet Singh, captain of the Bronze Medalist team of the Paris Olympic and Savita, the veteran goalkeeper of the women’s team.

On completion of 50 years, the Indian team, captained by Ajitpal Singh, who won the only World Cup in Kuala Lumpur in 1975, was given the Dhyanchand Lifetime Achievement Award.

Drag flicker Harmanpreet Singh, who played an important role in getting India a second consecutive Olympic bronze medal by scoring 10 goals in the Paris Olympics last year, said-

The award matters a lot and the youth get inspiration from it. I will tell them so much that they keep working hard without taking pressure of the result.

Former captain Savita, who won the award for the third time, said in the video message-

Savita also received the Baljit Singh Award for the best goalkeeper of the year.

Rohidas gets the best defender The Best Defender’s Pargat Singh Award was won by Amit Rohidas while Hardik Singh received the Ajitpal Singh Award for the best midfielder. Dhanraj Pillai Award for Best Forward was given to Abhishek. The Nunthha Lakra Award of the Best Under 21 women player of 2024 was won by Drag Flicker Deepika while Jugraj Singh Award was won by Arijit Singh Hundy in the men’s category.
