In Sonepat, senior BJP leader Rajiv Jain defeated Komal Dewan of Congress, while in Karnal, BJP’s Renu Bala Gupta defeated Manoj Wadhwa of Congress. However, the biggest embarrassment for the Congress was seen in Rohtak, the stronghold of former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda. BJP’s Ram Avatar has defeated Surajmal Kili of Congress on Rohtak seat.
In the 2024 assembly elections, the Congress kept its hold on Rohtak and Jhajjar districts and the party won seven out of eight seats.
‘Congress will not affect’
At the same time, while speaking on the results of the civic elections, Bhupendra Hooda said, the results of the municipal elections will not have much impact on the Congress.
Hooda said, ‘Even before this, BJP has dominated the municipal corporations. If we had lost the seat, it would have been a shock, but it was not already with us. The Congress must have gained an edge in some areas, but I did not go anywhere during the election. I do not think these results will have any effect.

Reacting to Hooda’s statement, Saini said, the Congress has stopped taking the democratic process lightly and hence people have shown them the way out.
