To avail this scheme, it will be mandatory for eligible applicants to register marriage within 6 months of marriage. Eligible families can apply online for Shagun on shadi.edisha.gov.in.
The government spokesperson said that the objective of the Chief Minister Vivah Shagun Yojana is to provide assistance in the marriage of girls of economically weaker sections. Under this scheme, daughters of backward class families living below the poverty line, women players of any class and couples, in which one of the husband or wife is a single Divyang, will now be given Rs 51.
These beneficiaries are getting benefits The spokesman said that an amount of Rs 71,000 is being given to eligible families of Scheduled Castes, Vimukta caste and Tapariwas community on the occasion of marriage. At the same time, on the remarriage of widows, divorced, orphans or destitute women (if the benefit of the scheme is not taken at the time of first marriage), an amount of Rs 51,000 is also given.
The plan was renamed in 2015 Marriage Shagun Yojana in Haryana is applicable since 1 April 1983. Earlier it was known as Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Vivah Shagun Yojana. In 2015, Union Minister and former CM Manohar Lal Khatter changed the name to Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana during his tenure.
The scheme is run by the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare. The budget for this is allotted under this department.
