In Haryana today (March 2), voting will be held for the municipal elections. Voting will start at 8 am in 40 bodies including 9 Municipal Corporation, which will run till 6 pm. In Ambala and Sonepat, a by -election for the post of Mayor is being held in the Municipal Corporation.

The remaining 7 municipal corporations along with the mayor are also elected by ward members. Voting will be held on 9 March in Panipat Municipal Corporation. The result will come on 12 March.
A total of more than 55 lakh voters will exercise their franchise in the election, including 27 lakh men, 24 lakh female and 184 other voters. A total of 5,126 polling stations have been set up for voting, including 393 sensitive and 531 over -sensitive centers (

39 candidates for the post of Mayor Haryana Election Commissioner Dhanpat Singh said that 39 candidates are in the fray for the post of Mayor in 9 municipal corporations. A total of 27 candidates are in the fray for the post of head of 5 city councils. In 23 municipalities, 151 candidates are in the fray for the post of head.
Municipal corporations where there are elections for mayor and ward members, heads in city councils and head members and ward members in municipalities will be voted from 2 EVMs. In which EVM will be imposed for one mayor/head post and another ward member. In places where only by -elections are there, only one EVM will be voted.
