The special thing is that 11 IPS names will be sent in the new panel. Out of the total 8 officers of DG rank, 5 will be out of the race, because they are retiring this year. The panel will include the name of IPS up to 1994 batch, out of which 4 officers are currently at ADGP rank. In the event of making any of them DGP, they must first promote DG rank.

11 names will be discussed for panel If the government sends a panel named new DGP, then there is a possibility of discussion on the names of 11 IPS officers under seniority. These will also include the name of the current DGP Shatrujit Kapoor (1990 batch). Apart from them, Manoj Kumar Yadav of 1988 batch, Mohammad Akil of 1989 batch, Alok Kumar Rai and Sanjeev Kumar Jain of 1991 batch, OP Singh and Ajay Singhal of 1992 batch, Alok Mittal of 1993 batch and Dr. AS Chawla, Navdeep Singh Virk of 1994 batch and his wife Kala Ramachandran are also named.

5 IPS officers will be out of race Except DGP Kapoor, 5 officers of DG rank will be out of UPSC shortlist due to the service of 5 officers of DG rank being less than 6 months. Under the rules, it is necessary to have more than 6 months service to consider the names included in the panel. DG Home Guard Desraj Singh (1990 batch) will retire in this month. Manoj Yadav of 1988 batch is retiring on 31 July. He is currently serving in the central government. Mohammad Akil, a 1989 batch DG (Jail), 31 December, Alok Kumar Rai of 1991 batch, 30 September and 1992 batch OP. Leo will retire on 31 December.

The lottery of one of these 4 names will come out Among those who join the panel as seniority sequence, Sanjeev Kumar Jain, Ajay Singhal, Alok Mittal and Dr. AS Chawla may get the lottery out of one of the lottery. Of these, Jain and Singhal are at DG rank. Jain will retire in September 2026 and Singhal in October 2028.

2 big reasons for installation of new DGP … 1. According to IPS lobby sources, the current DGP Shatrujit Kapoor is said to be keen on deputation to the center. He has a desire to visit the National Investigation Agency (NIA). 2. Kapoor was appointed during Manoharlal Khattar’s Chief Minister’s period. Kapoor stayed in the good book. Despite being an IPS officer, he got appointment to the posts of IAS in the Electricity Corporation and Transport Department.

Now read what is the case of Prakash Singh … This decision is from the year 2006. Then the Supreme Court gave important guidelines to the appointment and removal of DGP in Prakash Singh vs India Union case. This is called Prakash Singh case, as the apex court ordered the PIL of former UP DGP Prakash Singh.

  • In the judgment, the court had said that the tenure of the DGP should be at least two years old. Later, the court clarified that UPSC should ensure that the officers who are given for the post of DGP are retiring after two years.
  • It is necessary to make any officer a trainee before making DGP. At least he has been an officer of DG rank.
  • There will be no appointment to the post of DGP as a caretaker.
  • Before the end of DGP term, the state government will send the name to UPSC for this post. The list will be sent back to the names of three senior officers by increasing this list. Of these, the state government can choose any name.
