Congress and INLD leaders have attacked the Haryana government regarding SYL.
Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will hold a meeting in Delhi today to resolve the SYL Canal dispute. The meeting will be held in the presence of Union Water Resources Minister CR Patil.
,
The Supreme Court has instructed both states to find a resolution on the issue by mutual consent. Even before this, there has been a meeting three times, but due to its stance in Punjab and Haryana, no concrete results could be reached. Now it has to be seen whether a positive direction comes out in the fourth meeting.
SC has canceled these 2 decisions of Punjab The Supreme Court has canceled two decisions of Punjab. The first decision was the law to cancel the water agreement, which was canceled by the Supreme Court through reference. The second decision was taken by Punjab to return the land acquired for the SYL Canal to the farmers, which the Supreme Court has stayed and appointed receiver.
Supreme Court has said, compliance should be done The Supreme Court has clarified in many of its decisions that the Supreme Court has done the decree to build SYL canal. This decree should be complied with. When Punjab raises the case of water unavailability, the Supreme Court has clarified that SYL canal is not related to the availability of water.
SYL canal has been built in Haryana, in Punjab too some boundary remains. Recently, Union Water Resources Minister CR Patil reached Chandigarh. Then Patil had said that after negotiating with the two states, he would try to find a solution by mutual consent as per the instructions of the Supreme Court.
Politics started on SIL in Haryana before meeting …
Hooda said- Government should file a contempt petition Former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda has reacted to the proposed meeting to be held on SIL. He said that the BJP government should now move beyond these meetings, because the decision of the Supreme Court has come in favor of Haryana for a long time ago. The court had entrusted the responsibility of providing water from Haryana to the central government.
The BJP government is both Haryana and the Center. In such a situation, Haryana should have got water from its share till now, but this could not happen due to BJP’s anti -Haryana attitude. Now if the government is talking about it, then it should file a case of the Contemplation of Court directly.
INLD MLA said- Man should come to his senses Reacting to the meeting of the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab on the meeting with the Union Minister on Wednesday, INLD MLA Arjun Chautala said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann should come to this meeting conscious, not to drink alcohol. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan, who says that it is the water of Punjab, will not give anyone, from which well they have dug up SYL water.
SYL water comes from Siachen Glacier, so how did this Punjab water? Water is a natural resource on which no state but the right of the entire country.
In May, the Supreme Court asked for reconciliation In May, the Supreme Court again directed Punjab and Haryana to cooperate with the Center to resolve the case. The Supreme Court had earlier appointed the Minister of Water Power as the main intermediary in this case and asked him to play an active role instead of remaining only a ‘silent audience’.

Syl is in cold storage since 1982 The case is related to the construction of 214 km long SYL canal, of which 122 km was to be made in Punjab and 92 km in Haryana. Haryana completed its share, while Punjab put the project on hold in 1982. The case is in 1981, when an agreement was reached on water sharing between the two states and it was decided to build an SYL canal for better water sharing.
Supreme Court has rejected Punjab’s law
In January 2002, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Haryana and asked Punjab to build a canal as per the terms of the agreement, but the Punjab Legislative Assembly passed a law to end the 1981 agreement in 2004. This 2004 Punjab law was rejected by the Supreme Court in 2016. Since then the case has been stuck in the Supreme Court. Now the next hearing date is fixed on 13 August. Punjab has been reprimanded by Supreme Court on the last date During the hearing in this case on 6 May, the Supreme Court Justice Gawai reprimanded the Punjab government and said that what is it if it is not arbitrary? After the order of the canal was passed, the land acquired for its construction was made non-obliged.
This is an attempt to disregard the court order. This is a clear matter of arbitrariness. Three states should have got help from this. The land was acquired for the project and then made it non-obtained.
Haryana lost 19,500 crores Haryana has so far lost Rs 19 thousand 500 crores due to non -construction of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL). Due to lack of irrigation water for 46 years, 10 lakh acres of agricultural land of South Haryana has reached the verge of being barren. The most important thing is that due to lack of water, the state is also losing 42 lakh tonnes of food grains every year.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi two years ago, former Chief Minister Manohar Lal kept these figures. The former CM had said that if SYL was formed in 1983 as per the 1981 agreement, Haryana could produce 130 lakh tonnes of additional food grains and other grains.
