The Haryana government has shown strictness to curb gun culture in the state. Under this action started from 13 March 2025, many Haryanvi songs have been removed from YouTube so far. The most impact is on the famous singer Masoom Sharma, whose 14 songs were removed
,
Recently, Masoom Sharma’s popular song ‘Chambal Ke Daku’, which had also reached the bilboard, and the title song ‘Rohtak’ of the Haryanvi film ‘Rohtak Debak’ has been removed from YouTube. Both these songs have been removed on charges of promoting gun culture, while the film is still streaming on stage apps.
Action started from 13 March
The action on Haryanvi songs started from 13 March 2025. Earlier, at the review meeting of the Law and Order held in Karnal in February, Chief Minister Naib Saini gave strict instructions to keep strict monitoring on such songs that promote gun culture, drugs and bullying. After this, the first seven songs were removed from YouTube, four songs were from Masoom Sharma.
After this, the songs of artists like Narendra Bhagana, Ankit Balyan, Amit Saini Rohtakia, Sumit Parta, Gajendra Phogat, Harsh, Sandhu and Raj Mawar were also banned.
Innocent Sharma, hurt by this action, came live on his social media account on 13 March and shared his pain. He said that now he has also given up count how many songs have been removed.
CM Saini has praised the stage
Interestingly, while the government is removing their songs as a symbol of gun culture on the one hand, on the other hand the Chief Minister himself has praised him from the stage. At the Lord Parashuram Janmotsav program held at Devi Lal Stadium in Panchkula on 27 April, Chief Minister Naib Saini said, “Innocent Sharma is our artist whose songs people stand up and start swinging.”
It is not right to connect every song with gun culture
Innocent Sharma says that he now wants to avoid songs that cause any dispute, but they also feel that “it is not right to connect every song with gun culture”.
At the same time, there is a clear indication from the government that if weapons, bullying, or intoxication are glorified in Haryanvi music, it will be banned, no matter how popular it is.
Murder between shows at Punjab University
During a show at Punjab University in Chandigarh, in which innocent Sharma was performing, two groups had a clash and chalk. A student named Aditya Thakur was killed and three other students were injured in the incident.
The Chandigarh Police has filed a charge sheet against seven accused in this case- Hrithik, Prem Bhanu, Harsh alias Harshu, Uday Tushar, Raghav, Sahil and Lavish in murder and other sections.
Mike snatched in live show in Gurugram
At an event held at Laser Valley Park in Gurugram, when innocent Sharma tried to sing the song “Ek Khatola Jail ..” on the demand of the audience, the police snatched the mic and stopped the show in the middle.
Police said that the show permission was given on the condition that no song would be sung that would promote violence or gun culture. The video of this incident went viral on social media, after which the debate intensified how and how far the artists could be limited.
