Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge addressed a meeting of newly appointed District Congress Presidents, in which officials of several states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh participated. In this meeting, Kharge said that you should prepare for elections not for six months or a year but for five years. He has appealed to all the leaders to make a lot of efforts to prevent any kind of tampering in the voter list.
India needs a campaign -like campaign

302 District Congress Presidents of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh participated in the meeting held at Indira Gandhi Bhavan. Kharge asked the DCC presidents to prepare firmly for the assembly elections to be held in the next few years. He said that rising communalism is the biggest challenge and party leaders will have to fight it in the same way that the Congress had done in 1947-48 during the time of independence.

He said that elections are to be held in Bihar in September-October, so the leaders there will have to start preparing with full force. Kharge said that next year there are elections in Assam and West Bengal, followed by elections in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. We have to come down with complete preparation and strong preparation in these elections.
The interests of the poor and the destitute are at the top
The Congress President said that we have to fight continuously against the anti-people and anti-constitutional thinking of BJP-RSS. We are fighting against them inside and outside Parliament. Referring to the fact that this year is the centenary of Mahatma Gandhi becoming Congress President, Kharge said that the party has decided to celebrate 2024-25 as ‘Organization Empowerment’ year at the Belgaum Conference. He recalled Mahatma Gandhi’s words at the Round Table Conference held in London in 1931, when he said that the Congress would sacrifice all other interests for millions of hungry and poor people.
Prepare for election for five years
Kharge said that Gandhiji had actually said this to the villages, countryside, weaker sections, unruly people, whose voice became Congress. The current government is against the rights of the poor, Dalits, tribals, backward, so we need to fight more strongly. He said that I believe that we will have to prepare for elections for five years. If someone thinks that he will prepare six months or a year before the elections, then it is not correct.
He said that the most important link is the district president to bring the ideas and programs of the Congress down. Kharge said that today, rising communalism and hatred is the biggest challenge. We have to fight it in the same way that the Congress fought in 1947-48. A resolution was passed against the communal organizations in the meeting of the All India Congress Committee held from 15 to 17 November 1947 in the last days of Gandhiji’s life.

Kharge said that even today the situation is the same, our biggest fight is with communal forces which are engaged in spreading poison in the society. In the greed of power, a gap is being dug between the people of the same religion and the brother-brother is being raised against each other. We have the way shown by the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and our great leaders. Apart from this, Kharge said that the election process should be monitored and all efforts should be made to stop tampering with the voter list.

The first meeting held on March 26 was attended by 255 DCC presidents of Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Lakshadweep, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Goa, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. 305 DCC presidents from Maharashtra, Mumbai, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab and Chandigarh participated in the second meeting held on April 3. Venugopal said that in total 862 DCC presidents have participated in these meetings.
Venugopal said that the main area of ​​discussion was the focus on booth management and voter verification, media and social media campaigns and fund management for party activities. Venugopal said that such a meeting was not held in 20 years, which is an important moment in the history of the party. Venugopal said that this was a direct conversation between the DCC presidents and the high command. We are now creating a system for regular communication with DCC presidents.
Emphasis on the strength of the organization
He said that about 60 DCC presidents shared their views on strengthening the organization and implementing changes. Venugopal said that these issues were discussed thoroughly. He said, ‘I believe that this meeting held just before the AICC session in Gujarat was going to give important information about the ground level of our organization. As we have said, our goal for 2025 is to establish a strong organizational structure.
He said that on April 9, there will be a session of the All India Congress Committee in which about 1,725 ​​elected All India Congress Committee members, MPs, Ministers and other senior leaders will participate. To strengthen the party at the grassroots level, the top leadership of the Congress has emphasized that the District Congress committees will soon be given a lot of powers, which will increase their responsibility as well as accountability.
