The news of the martyrdom of Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh (46), a resident of Chausa block of Buxar district, who was injured during Operation Sindoor, has immersed the entire area in mourning. Sunil Singh, who was seriously injured in a drone attack by Pakistan, struggled with life and death for 22 days, but eventually breathed his last at Udhampur Hospital in the army.

After first aid, he was immediately airlifted and admitted to the army hospital in Udhampur. His family told that he had a last conversation on May 2, in which he said that everything is fine. But on May 9, when the news of injuries was reported by the army, the whole family was immersed in anxiety.

He was admitted in the army in 2002
Sunil Kumar Singh started the country service in 2002 by recruiting the Indian Army EME (Electronics and Mechanical Engineering) core. In this unit, who specializes in repairing arms and technical equipment, he had progressed to the post of Havildar in 2023 with his loyalty and hard work.

Mourning in family
His mother Pavdhari Devi is in the family of martyr Sunil Singh, a retired headmaster, wife and two sons. He was the eldest of the three brothers. His younger brother Anil does farming, while Chandan is serving in the Indian Army. The family says that Sunil’s martyrdom should get state honors by the government.

A wave of mourning in the village
As soon as the news of martyrdom is received, weeds have become mourning in the entire area including Chausa village. The villagers are remembering their sacrifice and valor and waiting for their last darshan. However, his body has not reached the village yet, but the news of his martyrdom has spread throughout the district.

Demand for state honors
Local people and family have demanded from the government that martyr Sunil Kumar Singh should be given state honors and proper assistance should be given to his family.

Government will give honorarium
On his martyrdom, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tweeted, ‘… the death of Indian Army Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh was deeply saddened, who was a resident of Buxar district and was injured during Operation Sindoor. The nearest dependent of Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh will be given honorarium by the state government. Also, he will be cremated by the state government with police honors.
