Heavy rains in West Bengal have caused havoc. At least six people have died of landslide in Mirik in Darjeeling district. The Dudia Iron Bridge connecting the towns and tourist places Mirik and Kursong of the district has also collapsed. Due to heavy rains, the movement of vehicles has been stopped on Siliguri-Darjiling State Highway-12.
The local administration and disaster management team have started relief work, but due to continuous rains and slippery roads, there is a problem in relief work. The administration has appealed to the people to stay away from the hill paths and the river banks.

Landslide in national highway too
Due to heavy rainfall, there has also been a landslide in Hussain Khola, which has completely broken the contact between Siliguri and Dedarjilling. Debris has accumulated in many places on the roads and traffic is completely disrupted. The administration has made arrangements to send emergency services by alternative route.
