There has been tension since the clash between two groups during the immersion of Durga idol in Cuttack, Odisha. Many people including DCP have been injured in this case. Six people have been arrested. Meanwhile, social media has been banned for 24 hours in Cuttack.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad, meanwhile, has called a 12 -hour bandh in Cuttack on October 6. Police say the clash took place on Saturday between 1.30 and 2 pm when the procession for idol immersion was going towards the Kathjodi river.

Officials say the violence happened when some local people objected to playing music in a loud voice during the procession. Cuttack DCP Rishikesh said that this debate soon turned into a conflict. The crowd pelted stones with the roofs of the houses on a procession and threw glass bottles, in which many people were injured. To overcome this situation, the police lathi -charged the crowd. Many vehicles and roadside stalls were damaged during this period.

Cuttack Assistant Fire Officer Sanjeev Kumar Behera said that we got information that rioters have set fire to eight to ten places near Gauri Shankar Park. We have controlled the fire. The rioters are throwing stones at us. Police has been deployed to control the situation.

The Odisha government issued an order that internet will remain closed for 24 hours in Cuttack. Mobile data, broadband all have been stalled. This was done to stop any kind of rumors. The DM of Cuttack said that such a step has been taken to maintain peace.
