ED, Mumbai Zonal Office has raided several locations in Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Jabalpur and Pune in connection with the investigation of cyber fraud associated with fake call center called Magnatel BPS Consultants and LLP. This action was taken on the basis of the FIR registered by Pune Cyber Police, in which a case was registered against 8 accused.
According to FIR, this fake call center was operating from the 9th floor of the Pride Icon Building in Pune from July 2024. It is alleged that this gang used to get their bank accounts and personal details by trapping the citizens of America in the fake loan scheme. Investigation has revealed that the accused used to offer a loan offer by calling themselves representatives of American banks and cheated millions of dollars by getting sensitive information from the victims.
The amount of fraud was made in this way
According to ED’s preliminary investigation, the amount of fraud was converted into cryptocurrency (mainly USDT) through colleagues in the US and stored in digital wallets like Trust Wallet, Exodus Wallet. Later, this amount was brought into cash in Ahmedabad by bringing India to India via traditional Angadia Channel.
Further investigation revealed that a part of the amount earned from this fraud was transferred to the accounts of the original company, which was used to procure the software and pay office fare. At the same time, a large part was spent in the purchase of gold, silver, vehicle, real estate and private properties.
These goods found in raids
During the raid, ED has found 7 kg of gold, 62 kg silver, 1.18 crore cash, documents related to immovable properties of 9.2 crore and digital evidence related to fake activities of call center. In the case, two partners named Sanjay More and Ajit Soni have been arrested from Jaipur. The Enforcement Directorate has said that the investigation of the case is still going on and the role of other involved persons is also being investigated.
