According to the Meteorological Department, the state receives average of 256.8 mm of normal rainfall between August 1 and August 31, but this time it received 440.8 mm of rain. Till date, there has never been so much rain in August.
Kullu district has received 162 percent more than normal, ie 62 percent more rain than double. Kullu receives 180.2 mm of normal rainfall in August, this time 472.9 mm of cloud.
Kullu received 126% more rainfall than normal in Shimla. Shimla receives normal rainfall of 196.4 mm during this period, but this time it has received 444.4 mm of rainfall. Una district received 121% more than normal, Solan 118% and Chamba received 104% more rainfall.
More than double rain in 5 districts
There are 5 districts in the state where more than double rainfall was recorded. This heavy rain is a major reason for destruction. The entire monsoon season i.e. from June 1 to August 31 has received 35 percent more rainfall than normal. During this period, the average normal rainfall in the state is 613.8 mm, but this time 826.8 mm has been rained.
3056 crore assets destroyed, 844 houses landlords
Government and private property worth Rs 3056 crore have been destroyed in the state. In the monsoon season, 320 people killed, 844 houses completely grounded, partial losses to 3254 houses, 472 shops and 3710 houses have been broken.
Destruction with 45 incidents of cloudburst
This season, 95 major incidents of landslide, 91 floods and 45 incidents of cloudburst have caused mass loss in the state. This has affected not only Himachal but also the neighboring state of Punjab. Many areas of Punjab were submerged and caused heavy losses.
Himachal CM Sukhwinder Sukhu said that the loss has reduced in this monsoon season. But the property has lost more than the disaster of 2023.
