Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of being anti-national. He says that Rahul Gandhi only supports the Muslims of Bangladesh and Pakistan. On Sunday (4, August, 2025), Himanta Biswa Sarma attended an election campaign in ‘Bodoland Territorial Region’.
According to the PTI report, after talking to reporters after the meeting, he accused Rahul Gandhi. Himant Biswa Sarma said, ‘Rahul Gandhi is anti-India. He is only with Bangladeshi and Pakistani Muslims. He is neither with Indian Hindus nor with Indian Muslims. Rahul Gandhi’s personality is anti -India. During this, he also claimed that the Congress does not respect the symbols of the identity of Assam like Kamakhya Temple and the great man Shrimant Shankardev.
When asked about Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s visit to Assam, Himant Biswa Sarma said that he has no objection to it. He said, ‘I have no objection to Priyanka Gandhi’s coming to Assam, but women associated with Self Help Groups of Assam are 100 times ahead of Priyanka Gandhi. The women of Assam, especially the self -help group, will beat Priyanka Gandhi in every case.
He questioned, ‘She (Priyanka Gandhi) cannot compete with our women. Our women make traditional Assamese sweets like Laru, Peetha, work in paddy fields and send their children to school-colleges. How can Priyanka Gandhi compete with our women? ‘
Earlier, Congress’s Assam unit president Gaurav Gogoi said that party MP Priyanka Gandhi has expressed his desire to go to Assam, especially Dhubri where he campaigned during the last Lok Sabha elections. Reacting to this, Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed, ‘They consider Dhubri as Assam. There is no objection to going to Dhubri, but first there should be talk of Kamakhya, Batdrava, Charidev Moidem and Rang Ghar, after that also go to Dhubri.
Himanta Biswa Sarma also alleged, ‘He (Congress leader) mother Kamakhya, Mahapurush does not believe in Shankardev and Chariyadev and Rang do not even consider the house as the house. They only recognize religious minorities of a particular class living in Dhubri. They do not understand the feeling of any other people.
Himant Biswa Sarma claimed that Assamese people from other areas are not interested in meeting the Congress leader. He claimed, ‘… He (Congress leaders) should visit other areas. However, I think it is not the right time to go to other places right now. Who will come to see Priyanka Gandhi? The people of Assam are not interested in seeing Priyanka Gandhi.
