Brazil has seen significant changes in the religious demographics of a multi-religious country, where people of different religions live peacefully.
Roman Catholic is the most prevalent religion in Brazil, but Hindu and Muslim population is also increasing gradually.
According to the US State Government report, the influence of Hinduism in Brazil is gradually increasing. According to the 2000 census, there were only 2,905 Hindus in Brazil at that time.
However, by 2011 the number increased to 9,500 and by 2020 the Hindu population reached 21,200. This increase is due to the increasing interest and migration of people towards Hinduism. Nevertheless, the Hindu community is only 0.005 percent of the total population of Brazil.
According to the 2010 census, the presence of 35,200 Muslims was recorded in Brazil. However, Muslim associations estimate that by 2020, this number has increased significantly between 1.2 and 1.5 million. This growing population is mainly due to immigration and growth of local Muslim communities.
Followers of different religions in Brazil meet together with different people. Roman Catholic religion is prominent here, but the contribution of Hindu and Muslim population also appears in the cultural diversity of Brazil.
The growth of Hindu and Muslim communities presents a unique example of religious tolerance and cultural diversity in the country.
Along with the increase of Hindu and Muslim population in Brazil’s religious demographics, the influence of other religions is also being seen. In the coming years, it will be interesting to see how these communities will contribute to the cultural and social structure of Brazil.
