Late evening on Friday, Home Minister Amit Shah reached Jorhat in Assam.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a three -day visit to the Northeast. On Saturday, Shah will inaugurate the first phase of the renovated Police Academy at Dergaon in Jorhat district of Assam. At the same time, the unit of Assam Rifles in Mizoram is being shifted from the capital Aizawl, which is 15 km from Aizawl. Shah will also be present in this program.
Earlier on Friday late evening, Shah reached Jorhat in Assam. During this time, the Home Minister posted on his X handle and said that he would review the implementation of three new criminal laws in the northeastern states and will also meet his young friends in the Bodoland regional area at the 57th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union. Shah said- I am eager to participate in all programs.
On reaching Jorhat, Shah was welcomed by Assam Chief Minister Hemant Biswa Sarma.
Shah’s program in Assam
Home Minister Shah will inaugurate the state -of -the -art Police Academy before leaving for Mizoram on Saturday morning. Officials said that the Lachit Barfukan Police Academy, spread over 340 acres, is being renewed in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs 1,024 crore. Late in the evening, he will return to Guwahati and take a night’s rest at the state guest house at Koinadhara. On Sunday morning, Home Minister will leave for Dotma in Kokrajhar district of Assam to address the 57th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU). Shah will return to Guwahati in the afternoon and review the progress of the Indian Justice Code with the Chief Ministers of eight states of the Northeast region. Shah will leave for Delhi on Sunday night.
Security system strict due to Shah’s visit
Mizoram Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Shukla said on Friday that security in the state has been tightened before Home Minister Shah’s visit. Security forces have been asked to be vigilant during the Home Minister’s visit. Apart from the state police, additional forces have also been called from the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to keep strict monitoring at major routes and places.
