In the Lok Sabha, Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi said on Monday (July 28, 2025) that the government should explain why ‘Operation Sindoor’ was stopped and why the terrorists who killed 26 innocent citizens in Pahalgam are still out of grip.
In response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in the lower house, the Congress leader also said that the moral responsibility of the security lapse in the Pahalgam terror attack should be taken by Home Minister Amit Shah.
Defense Minister did not keep many truths in front: Amit Shah
Referring to the statements of some military officers, he said that it should be informed how many aircraft fell in military conflict with Pakistan, because this information is not only necessary for the public but also for the soldiers. The Congress leader, while referring to the statement of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in the House, claimed that Singh did not reveal many truths.
Gogoi said, ‘The war that happened recently was a war of information. We wanted to inform the world about the truth, but some forces were spreading lies. The purpose of this discussion is that the truth should come in the House. Rajnath Singh ji gave many information, but as the Defense Minister, he did not tell how the terrorists came to Pahalgam? How did the terrorists reach there and kill people?
5 terrorists still absconding
He said, ‘It is the duty of the opposition to ask questions in the national interest. The country wants to know how five terrorists enter? The aim of those terrorists was to destroy the economy of Jammu and Kashmir and create a communal environment in the country. 100 days passed, but five terrorists could not be caught, why are it so? This country wants to know.
He said, ‘You said that after the departure of Article 370, come to Jammu and Kashmir and people came, but when people were injured in the firing of the terrorists, they started reaching the ambulance for an hour. The Deputy Governor (Manoj Sinha) has taken responsibility for the security lapse, but this responsibility should be taken to the Home Minister.
Government ‘weak and intelligent’
Gogoi claimed that this government is so ‘weak and intelligent’ that after the Pahalgam attack, the tour operator was blamed that due to them, such a large number of people reached. Ego has come in this government. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, ‘When the Prime Minister returned from Saudi Arabia after the attack, you should have gone to Pahalgam, but you went to Bihar and gave an election speech. If someone went to Pahalgam, he was our leader Rahul Gandhi.
On this, Toka-Toki started in the House on behalf of the ruling party. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla asked Gogoi to keep factual things in the House. The Congress leader said that the things that were done by the government after the Uri attack, the same things have been done now. Gogoi said that the government, which talks about ‘showing the red eye to China’, did not even take the name of that China in his speech.
‘Pakistan was on her knees, so why do you bow down?’
He said, ‘When the whole country and the opposition stood with the Prime Minister, why suddenly the ceasefire was? If Pakistan was on his knees, then why you bow, whom you bow in front of? US President Donald Trump has said 26 times that he stopped the war by talking about business. Rajnath Singh should tell how many aircraft fell. This truth should be found not only to the people of the country, but also to the soldiers.
Gogoi said, ‘The government is not afraid of the truth. The country and the opposition stood together earlier and still stands today. We are not enemies of the government, we are standing in favor of the soldiers of our country. 0 You tell us the truth. It was expected that Home Minister Naitin will take responsibility, National Security Advisor will take responsibility and the Prime Minister will explain why Operation Sindoor was stopped. The government should keep the truth in front.
