Hindu in Bangladesh: The government said on Friday that 152 incidents of death of 23 Hindus and attacks on Hindu temples have come to light in Bangladesh since August. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh also said in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha that “76 incidents of attacks against Hindus have taken place in Bangladesh during the last two months (26 November 2024 to 25 January 2025).”
In his reply, he said that since August, there have been 152 incidents of death of 23 Hindus in Bangladesh and attacks on Hindu temples. The minister said that the Government of India has paid attention to the incidents of violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh and shared its concerns with the Bangladesh government.
India summoned Bangladesh Acting High Commissioner Nural Islam
India on Friday summoned the acting High Commissioner of Bangladesh Nural Islam and regretted “negative depiction of India” by Bangladesh officials responsible for their country’s internal rule issues.
The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal said in a written reply to the media questions regarding the summon of Islam that the Government of India will strive for a mutually beneficial relationship and “We hope that Bangladesh is also without spoiling the atmosphere Will make a similar effort.
He said, “The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Bangladesh acting High Commissioner Mohammad Nural Islam in India today i.e. on February 7, 2025 at five o’clock in the evening.”
