‘Humer, knowledge, legal understanding … is a complete man’, CJI Sanjeev Khanna read in praise?

Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna praised Justice Rishikesh Roy’s legal understanding, knowledge, sense of humor and described him as a complete person. Justice Rishikesh Roy is retiring and was his last working day on Friday (31 January 2025). Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that things became comfortable in the court with Justice Roy’s balanced approach and his humor.

According to the news agency PTI, CJI Sanjeev Khanna said, ‘Justice Roy is complete in itself. His sense of humor used to make things easy. His balanced approach in court or anywhere is extraordinary. In addition, their patience, calm behavior has a profound effect on all of us. He said, ‘When you talk to him, you will feel that you are talking to a person who has a store of knowledge. He is knowledgeable of many subjects and it is very difficult to meet a person like him. He is an extraordinary person and we will miss him. ‘

Attorney General R. Venkataramani said that Justice Rishikesh Roy believed that the smile makes many things easier. Venkataramani said, ‘Your unique attraction made the bar meaningful.’ Solicitor General Tushar Mehta also reiterated a similar sentiment and said that Justice Roy’s humor reduced tension in the court.

Supreme Court Bar Association President and Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal praised the human view of Justice Rishikesh Roy towards the law and said that he had taken the initiative to provide relief during the Assam flood. Justice Rishikesh Roy was part of the Constitution Bench in many important cases including guidelines related to euthanasia, committee and Jallikattu for the appointment of Election Commissioners."Text-Align: justify;"> Justice Roy was born on February 1, 1960 and in 1982, Delhi University & lsquo; Campus Law Center & rsquo; Got LLB degree from Justice Roy was sworn in as a judge in the Supreme Court on 23 September 2019. Earlier, he served as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on August 8, 2018. Justice Roy was appointed as Additional Judge of the Guwahati High Court on 12 October 2006 and became a permanent judge on 15 July 2008.
