A tragic accident in the Medchal police station area of Hyderabad has shocked the local community on Monday night. The roof of an old three -storey building located in the main market of Medchal suddenly collapsed, which is feared to be buried by five people in the debris.
This accident has created an atmosphere of tension and chaos in the area. Teams of Police, Fire Department and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are engaged in rescue work. According to the local people, the accident happened around 8:30 pm when normal activities were going on in the market. The building had a grocery shop and some residential flats.
What did eyewitnesses say?
Eyewitnesses said that a loud voice was heard before the roof collapsed, after which the dust woke up and people started screaming. A local resident Ramesh Yadav said, “We could not understand what happened. Suddenly the roof fell, and people got stuck in the rubble. It was very scary.”
Medchal-Malkajgiri Police Inspector said, “We got immediate information and our teams immediately reached the spot. The rescue work continues and we are making every effort to evacuate the trapped people safely.” Initial investigation is considered a possible cause of the accident and lack of maintenance of the building. Although some people feared the effect of cylinder explosion or heavy rains, the police have not confirmed these claims.
What did the Chief Minister of Telangana say?
Telangana Chief Minister A.K. Expressing grief over the incident, Revanth Reddy posted on X and said, “I am shocked by this incident in Medchal. I have instructed the officials to leave no stone unturned and provide all possible assistance to the affected families.” The local administration has made emergency arrangements for the injured in the nearest hospitals.
