Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal has expressed grief over the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. He said that when he will go to the Rajya Sabha and will not be on the chair, he would miss him a lot. Kapil Sibal called Jagdeep Dhankhar a patriot and said on Monday (July 21, 2025) that he (Dhankhar) has cited health reasons for his decision, so it should be accepted and should move forward.
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post on Monday evening citing health reasons. He sent his resignation to President Draupadi Murmu and said that he was leaving the post with immediate effect. Reacting to this development, Kapil Sibal said that Jagdeep Dhankhar has clearly stated that he has resigned on health basis and there should be no further discussion on it.
Talking with news agency ANI, Kapil Sibal said, ‘I am not happy with the person that I will not see them when I go to Parliament. I have a relationship with them for many years and have very good relationships, family relations. Wherever the functions of our family were held, Dhankhar Saheb always used to come and he had a relationship with my father. I also made many cases with him and also against him, when he lived on the other side, but our personal unit was very good.
Kapil Sibal said, ‘I will miss him. One of his view points was always, which often spoke without hesitation in public, which was his specialty. He felt something wrong, he also used to speak. He always sat in the house and said that the opposition and the ruling party should move forward unanimously because the question is of the country, but everyone’s attitude is different. Many times they are unable to walk together.
Kapil Sibal said that Jagdeep Dhankhar has never had any dirt in his mind and whenever I wanted me that I got more time to speak, whenever I went to his chamber and talked to him, he always supported me and gave more time. He said that our relations should always be good. If our ideology was different, then many times we used to say something and that too used to answer from there, but bitterness has never happened. I am sad that when I go to Rajya Sabha next time, he will not be on that chair there.
Kapil Sibal said on the ongoing speculation about Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation that he has clearly written everything in his resignation that if he is leaving the post for health reasons, then there will be something that he took such a decision. Kapil Sibal said that no one should speculate in this matter. Kapil Sibal said, ‘These were his merits. He is a nationalist and patriot. They wanted the opposition and the government to work together to increase India’s reputation in the world.
