“I don’t know from whom I heard it in my childhood, but I had understood in the sixth class itself that I can do something only by reading. That’s when I made friends with books, the company of books is what made me and my family what I am today. “Fortunes have turned.”
When Rohini, who studied in Khoda area of Ghaziabad, has a job offer letter worth Rs 21 lakh per annum, she remembers that incident from her childhood. When she had promised herself that somehow she would change her circumstances by studying well. Today he has shown this by doing also. Let us know the story of Rohini Mishra.
Khoda is that area of Ghaziabad where 12 lakh people live in about 48 thousand houses. There is a large number of migrants from UP-Bihar who came here years ago to earn livelihood by doing small jobs. One of these, Indra Mohan Mishra’s family also lived here on rent. His wife Sushma Mishra, daughter Rohini Mishra and son Rohit also lived in a rented room.
studied in government school
Rohini tells that all four of us lived in a single room in Khoda. Ours was a lower middle class family, father was barely able to support the family with his private job and could barely pay the house rent. In such a situation, our education was even more difficult. Earlier we lived in Sector 122 of Noida, so on someone’s recommendation my father got me and my brother admitted in a private school. Our fees were negligible there.
She tells that after fifth class, due to the expensive education, my brother and I got admission in a government school. When studies were going on there, there was a lot of load for tuition. Now if I had to study from CBSE board to UP board, it seemed difficult. Couldn’t study tuition. Then till ninth standard, I worked hard at home and performed well in my studies.
Topped in 10th for the first time
I came to know that some people associated with Yogoda Satsang Society in Sector 62 teach children. When I met some people here in the ashram, I came to know that one can become an engineer after studying from IIT, so I decided in 9th class itself to appear for JEE and then Advanced exam. From here my studies started growing. Then in 10th board in the year 2018, I got fifth rank among the toppers of government school in Gautam Buddha Nagar. I got 89 percent marks.
Rohini tells that at that time Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath had given awards to the children but my grandmother had passed away at that time so I could not take the prize from her hand, then the school gave me that award. I got third rank in the district in 12th, after that I concentrated completely on studies.
I started living in books only
I was determined that no one could distract me. I started living only in books. She would start reading in the morning by brushing her teeth etc. and whenever she got time during the day, she would just sit down to read. Along with 12th, she was also studying for JEE. That year, I got 84% in 12th board and got 3rd rank in the district. The then DM Suhas LY Sir gave me the award and my photo also appeared in the newspaper. I had said in a line that I want to clear JEE in future. Then I was busy in preparation but I could not pass in the first attempt, so I dropped one year after 12th.
At that time a new coaching had started, so discounts etc. were available. I studied from there only. My father got coaching done by taking loans from people. After this, I got 7483rd rank, due to which I got selected in IIT Kharagpur. Now my four years are about to end, I have got placement from here, I have been offered a CTC of Rs 21 lakh from National Payment Corporation of India.
I will repay the loan first
There are still three to four months of study left. I will repay my loan first. Now that I have got the job, I have decided that I will repay my and my father’s loan first. Many children like me still think that how will they afford the expensive studies at IIT? Even my family could not afford the fees of Rs 10-12 lakh. That’s why I studied by taking a bank loan. Well, I have got scholarship etc. so I have to pay not Rs 12 but only Rs 6 lakh. Now my brother has also been selected in the Air Force by Agniveer. I feel very happy seeing the happiness of the parents.
