New Delhi. The International Cricket Council has released the Best ODI Team of the Year for the year 2024. There is not a single player from the Indian team in this. The surprising thing is that not a single player from Australia and England is in the list. Four players from Sri Lanka and three cricketers each from Afghanistan and Pakistan managed to make it to the ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year 2024.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) released this list on Friday 24 January. Sam Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf made it to the Pakistan team. While Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Azmatullah Omarzai and Allah Ghazanfar from Afghanistan also made it to the team. Four players from Sri Lanka are Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Wanindu Hasaranga and Sherfane Rutherford from West Indies also made it to the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2024.

Asalanka captained Sri Lanka in the historic series win against India in August 2024. He has been made the captain of the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2024. By scoring 742 runs in 17 matches, Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis had topped the list of highest run-scoring batsmen in 2024. He is also in the list. India played only three ODI matches in 2024, due to which no Indian player could make it to the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2024. Apart from India, Australia, South Africa, England and New Zealand also have no representatives.
