IIT Roorkee Email Glitch, Many students had to face further problems due to a technical glitch in the email sent by IIT Roorkee to GATE 2025 candidates. An email sent to some GATE candidates addressed them as “Dear IDLI CHUTNEY NO SAMBHAR”, causing a stir online.
This mail error came to light when candidates shared its screenshots on social media and different types of reactions started coming on it. However, after the incident, the institute immediately issued an official statement and apologized for the technical glitch. The institute also assured that necessary steps will be taken to avoid such problems in future.
Controversy erupts over “Idli Chutney no Sambar”
After this incident, a user accused X that there was mention of racism in the mail. He also shared the post tagging IIT Roorkee and the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, “The IIT Roorkee team addressed me by calling me Idli Chutney no Sambar. I don’t know how to react to this, but it is racist.” Some other users made fun of this incident and said that sambar is the best part of breakfast.
IIT Roorkee expressed regret, resolved the problem
IIT Roorkee immediately issued a clarification on this matter and said that this error was due to a technical problem in their bulk email system. The institute said that by giving priority to this problem, its solution was found soon and emails with correct information were sent to the affected candidates. Along with this, the institute also expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to all the candidates.
