Severe cold continues in Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. Temperatures dropped below 0ºC in many parts of Kashmir Valley and Himachal on Wednesday night. Srinagar’s Gulmarg was the coldest in the valley with a temperature of minus 9.8°C. The minimum temperature was minus 1 degree recorded in Srinagar.
The coldest temperature was recorded in Tabo of Lahaul and Spiti in Himachal Pradesh, where the temperature dropped to -13.6 degrees Celsius at night. The lowest temperature was 1.1 degrees Celsius recorded in Fatehpur (Sikar) of Rajasthan. At the same time, the night temperature in Jaipur was 6.4 degrees Celsius. Dense fog remained prevalent in many parts of Punjab and Haryana.
Due to sunshine in Delhi on Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius, which was 2.5 degrees above normal. However, visibility dropped to zero due to dense fog in the morning.
The Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for cold wave, frost on the ground and dense fog in 5 out of 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh – Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Mandi – for Thursday.
According to the Meteorological Department, due to Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Ladakh, Delhi and Uttarakhand at the end of this week.
