Brian Lara shared his first meeting with Viv Residents
New Delhi. Brian Charles Lara, former captain of the West Indies cricket team and among the great batsmen, was very difficult to start. When he made a place in the team, the West Indies team was filled with star players. Lara recently revealed her first meeting with Vivian Richards. The meeting took place when Lara got a chance to play in the same team with Richards in his debut Test match. Lara spoke about this experience on ‘Stick to Cricket’ podcast.
Lara said, “I got a chance to play with him (Richards). My first Test match was in Trinidad and I got a letter from the board, ‘You are in the team. Tomorrow at 9 am, report for practice.’ I reached there at 8 am, started a little practice at Queen Park Oval with my brother and then the team came. These were all my heroes – Viv (Richards), (Gordon) Greenies, (Desmond) Hayans, Malcolm Marshall, all big players and they went to the dressing room.
“I spent the first five days in the bathroom.”
