New Delhi. The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is on its own. While the IPL franchise shed fierce money on the players, companies are also spending crores of rupees on their advertisements. But, apart from all these, money is raining during the IPL. Whether it is about flight booking or train booking or hotel. In the IPL season, up to 70 percent jump is being seen everywhere and the common man is also making fierce money from the festival’s festival.
According to Easemytrip, travel booking has increased by 30-35 per cent during the IPL this year, while the increase during IPL 2024 was 20-25 per cent. Tavleen Bhatia, Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer of online travel platform Cleartrip, said that the demand for hotels near the stadium has registered a three -fold increase. Overall, hotel booking has increased by 1.6 times in match days, which is mainly due to fans coming from nearby cities.

Where the match, more booking there
Easemytrip CEO and co-founder Rikanth Pitti said that the booking of air travel has increased for the cities where IPL matches are happening this season. For example, unilateral flights from Mumbai to Bangalore are around Rs 2,650, while the return fare from Bangalore to Mumbai starts at around Rs 3,950. People going from Chennai to Mumbai can expect ticket prices between Rs 2,700 to Rs 3,100. However, its prices rise close to the match days.
Hotels are getting
Hotels near stadiums like Shravanathi Sarovar Portico in Bangalore and Marine Plaza in Mumbai are often full. The average room rates for premium stay are currently between Rs 6,000-8,200 and the budget stay is between Rs 2,200-5,200. During the week off, there is further boom in booking and demand. There has been a huge demand in hotels located near the stadiums. Some hotels have registered an increase of up to 5 per cent and a 7 per cent increase in average rates as compared to the weeks before the IPL.
35 percent more booking from last year
Jostle’s co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dharamvir Singh Chauhan said that the total booking volume during the IPL has increased by 35-37 percent compared to last year. He said that this growth is mainly seen in destinations like Dharamshala, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore and Jaipur. Along with flights and hotels, train booking has also risen due to IPL.
Train booking increased by 65 percent
Dinesh Kumar Kotha, CEO of ixigo trains and conformity, said that train booking for the cities matching during the IPL season has increased by 60-65 percent on an annual basis. Favorite destinations like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Lucknow and Dharamshala are seeing more than 50 percent increase in train booking. Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad have emerged as the top hotspots for visiting, which have recorded the most bounce in flight and hotel booking.
Which city has the highest booking
The most dramatic growth is being seen in Ahmedabad during the IPL season. Booking has exceeded double during the major match days. Chennai has registered a growth of about 30 per cent in the demand for travel around high-profile matches, while Hyderabad has an increase of 17-18 per cent. Ahmedabad’s metro ride increases to more than 90,000 passengers during the match days.
