In Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh, a major incident has come to light that embarrassing the image of the police department. Crime team in -charge Daroga Abhayanath Tiwari and Chief Reserve (Diwan), posted at Manduwadih police station, were arrested by the Anti Corruption Team taking a bribe of Rs 15,000.
According to the information, this act of policemen has been exposed on the complaint of Akash Gupta, a local salon operator. Akash told that on the night of 16 June, some youths were beating the door at the liquor shop next to his shop, which led to the dispute. The liquor shop salesman Manish called Akash to the police station and beat him and also filed a fake case.

After this, Thanedar Bharat Upadhyay demanded ₹ 35 thousand, which Akash gave under compulsion. Then the discretionary inspector Abhayanath Tiwari also threatened to send serious sections to jail and sought a bribe of ₹ 15,000. When the victim informed the Anti Corruption Department, the team laid a trap and caught the two policemen red handed.
In this case, Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal, while taking quick action, not only suspended both the bribery policemen and sent them to jail, but has also shifted the line to Inspector Bharat Upadhyay, in -charge of Manduwadih police station. Further legal action is going on on the basis of FIR lodged in Cantt police station.
