New Delhi. India-Australia fourth test is at a very exciting juncture. Australia has prepared to give India a target of 334 runs or more to win. This is a goal which is not easy to achieve on this field, but is not impossible. The England team has achieved the target of 322 runs on this ground in Melbourne. India defeated Australia in the Brisbane Test in 2021 by chasing 328 runs.
England holds the record of achieving the biggest target in MCG i.e. Melbourne Cricket Ground. England has once chased the target of 322 runs here. He did this in 1928. Now India has to achieve a target bigger than 300. This is something that has happened only once in Melbourne in the last 96 years. But if it is so difficult then why are legends like Ravi Shastri seeing chances of India’s victory. The answer lies in the performance of the Indian team.
India had registered victory in Brisbane three years ago by achieving the target of 328 runs. Half of the players of the team which registered this victory are also playing in Melbourne. Rishabh Pant then played the match-winning innings. Washington Sundar-Mohammed Siraj also contributed to the victory.
India is the first cricket team in the world to achieve a target of more than 400 runs in a test match. He won the match against West Indies in 1974 by scoring 406 runs in the fourth innings. And who can forget the successful chase of 387 runs against England. There is no doubt that Indian fans are hoping for victory in Melbourne.
There are strong batsmen till number eight in the Indian batting line-up. Nitish Reddy’s century and Washington Sundar’s half-century are proof that if India gets a good start in the fourth innings, the middle-lower order can defeat Australia.
