The India-Bangladesh match proved to be historic for Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli.

New Delhi. The Indo-Bangladesh match in the Champions Trophy proved to be historic for Mohammed Shami and Virat Kohli. Shami completed her 200 wickets in ODI cricket during this match. He has made a world record of taking 200 wickets in the lowest balls. In this match, Virat Kohli has equaled Mohammad Azharuddin’s record of the highest catches.

Prior to the India-Bangladesh match, Mohammed Shami had 197 wickets in 103 ODIs. Similarly, Virat Kohli had 154 catches. Both Shami and Virat made this match memorable by performing well. Interestingly, both of them registered their names in the recordbook on the same ball. On this ball of Shami, as soon as Kohli sent Jaker Ali to the pavilion, a new record was made.

Mohammed Shami has thrown 200 wickets (5126) in ODIs. Before that, this record was named after Mitchell Starc. Australia’s Stark completed 200 wickets in 5240 balls. Shami took 5 wickets for 53 runs in his 10 -over spell against Bangladesh. This is the sixth time in ODI career, when Shami has taken 5 or more wickets in an innings.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has equaled Mohammad Azharuddin by taking 156 catches in ODIs. Kohli caught the 156th catch in the 298th ODI match. Azharuddin caught so many catches in 334 ODIs. Now there are only two players in the world who have caught more catches than Kohli in ODIs. These two players are Mahela Jayawardene and Ricky Ponting. In ODIs, Jayawardene has caught 218 and Ricky Ponting has caught 160 catches.
