Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young opener of the Indian team, is close to achieving a major achievement in his emerging Test career. This left -handed batsman has a chance to complete the fastest 2000 Test runs for India. This record is currently recorded jointly by Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag, who achieved this feat in 40 innings.

Rahul Dravid did this feat against New Zealand in Hamilton in 1999 and Virender Sehwag in Chennai in 2004 in Chennai. Yashasvi made a Test debut against the West Indies in July 2023 and has so far scored 1,903 runs in 38 innings. His average is 52.86, which is very impressive as an opener.

Rahul Dravid – 40 innings (New Zealand, Hamilton, 1999)
Virender Sehwag 40 innings (Australia, Chennai, 2001)

Jaiswal will get a chance to equal or get a chance to get ahead of this record in the second Test against England in Edgbaston, Birmingham from July 2. In the first Test, Yashaswi performed brilliantly and scored 101 runs in the first innings (in 159 balls, 16 fours and 1 six). However, after contributing to batting, Jaiswal will also have to pay attention to his fielding. In the Leeds Test, he left four easy catches which affected the outcome of the match.

Team India could never win at Edgbaston

After the defeat of the Indian team in the Leeds Test, questions have been raised on the captaincy of Shubman Gill. Shubman bowled very little with Shardul Thakur in the Leeds Test, which remained beyond comprehension. Also, he did not rotate the bowlers properly. Now Shubman is a challenge to re -organize his players and prepare them for the second Test. India has never won a Test match on the ground of Azbaston so far. It had to face defeat in seven of the eight Test matches that the Indian team played here.
