The upcoming 5 -match Test series between India and England is as commercially as the Ashes. This is to say that of Richard Guld, Chief Executive of England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). He believes that this series can wake up the interest of England cricket fans again.
Last year, big sports events like Paris Olympics and Euro Cup caught people’s attention, which did not give cricket so much importance. Empty chairs in Lord’s were indicated by this decline after the series win against Sri Lanka. But this time Richard Guld expects a better response due to the popularity of the Indian team.
What did Richard Guld say?
He said that we know how big a series this is. This is a very big summer. Last year, something was going on everywhere. The best thing about the five -Test series is that it is like a long story. Although giants like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin have retired from Test cricket in the last 6 months, India’s off-next (commercial and viewer influence) holds so strong that any series is considered equal to the Ashes playing against them.
This series is also the beginning of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle. India has not won any Test series in England after 2007. The previous series (2021–22) was spent on par with 2-2. Richard Guld also said that in recent years the demand for a five -match Test series has increased and Test cricket is once again gaining popularity.

What did Guld say on the future of WTC final?
He said that England has an edge compared to other contenders like India, as the match of neutral teams in England can also make the stadium full.
