The Indian cricket team has to play a five -match Test series against England on their land from June 20, for which the players of the Indian team have reached England. In this Test series, Indian captain Shubman Gill is going to have a tough test. Gill was appointed captain in the biggest format after Rohit Sharma’s Test cricket retirement.
Now Shubman Gill has told what he was made the captain of the Test team, then what was the head coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar. Shubman Gill clarified that the coach and the chief selectors do not have any ignorance from them, they just want to express myself and play openly.
Shubman Gill said in a conversation with Dinesh Karthik on Sky Sports, ‘As far as expectations are concerned … I have spoken to Goti Bhai (Gautam Gambhir) and Ajit Bhai (Ajit Agarkar) many times. They just want to express myself as captain. They do not expect anything from me. They are not expecting me to do anything in which I am not able to do.
Although there is no pressure on Shubman Gill from head coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar, the Indian captain has set some targets for himself. Shubman Gill believes that it is necessary to not only win the trophy, but also create an environment where every player feels safe and happy.
‘I make such culture in the team …’
Shubman Gill said, ‘Trophy or title is in its place, but I want to create a culture in the team that makes every player safe and happy. I know that it will not be easy due to so many matches and constantly changing squads. But if I could do this then this will be my real success.
Shubman Gill has a big challenge because he remains to establish himself in Test cricket on foreign soil as a batsman. Shubman Gill has played 13 Test matches outside India so far, in which he has scored just 649 runs at a bad average of 29.50.
