England captain Ben Stokes gave a decisive blow on the first day of the second Test being played at Edgbaston, Birmingham, when he dismissed Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal in a spectacular form. This wicket came at a time when there was a sharp debate between the two players on the field.
In search of Brachtreu, Captain Stokes himself took the bowling and immediately showed the impact. He threw a wide ball out of the off stump, on which Jaiswal tried to play an aggressive shot as before. But this time, the ball went straight to Jamie Smith’s gloves due to the edge of the bat.
After dismissing, Stokes celebrated with a strong roar and ran the entire ground. This wicket was about to break the 66 -run partnership which was made between Jaiswal and Shubman Gill and was taking India’s innings ahead. Jaiswal played a brilliant innings of 87 runs (107 balls, 13 fours) in which aggression, confidence and passion were clearly visible. India had scored 182 runs for 3 wickets till the first day.
