Jofra Archer returned to Red-Ball Cricket on Sunday (June 22) after more than four years and on Monday he took 1 wicket for Sussex for Sussex for 28 runs in 14 overs in the county championship division one match against Durham. Archer believes that he is ready to return to Test cricket and can field for England in the second Test against India which will be played from 2 to 6 July in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Archer further said, “I think I have to face a different challenge now, I know that my body can bear it. So I think I will have to struggle with it in the next few days, but everything is fine. I will keep moving forward. When the scorboard has been moving. When there is 50 overs on the scoreboard, I felt, ‘Oh God, now we have reached the end of the day,’ But we did not reach the end of the day and it was not so bad.
Archer further said, “I have done 14 overs today. Who knows how many overs I will do tomorrow? There is no limit. You cannot ban in a Test match if you are going to play.” Archer, who has taken 42 wickets in 13 Tests played so far, was last fielded in the Ahmedabad Test against India in the white jersey for England from 24 to 25 February 2021.
