The Indian cricket team has to play a five -match Test series against England from June 20. There was a big change before this blockbuster test series. This time this test series will be played for ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’.
Now the ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’ has been unveiled on 19 June (Thursday). The Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) has shared the first picture of the trophy. In a picture, ‘God’ Sachin Tendulkar of cricket and former English fast bowler James Anderson are also seen. This trophy has been named after these two veterans.
Let me tell you that in honor of former Indian captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi it was earlier called ‘Pataudi Trophy’, but just before the upcoming series, the decision to change the name of this trophy was made by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This decision angered the fans as well as the Pataudi family.
Seeing the dispute growing, Sachin Tendulkar himself came forward in the whole matter. Sachin Tendulkar has requested BCCI and ECB to find a way to maintain Pataudi’s legacy in the series. Now the new path was found that the winning captain of the Test series will be awarded the Pataudi medal. At the same time, the winning team will keep the ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’ with it.
However, the ‘Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy’ was to be unveiled on June 14 during the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) (2023-25). But it was delayed due to the recent aircraft accident in Ahmedabad. Please tell that 53 British citizens also died in this plane crash. This Air India aircraft was going to London and crashed only a few minutes after taking off.
