India defeated Pakistan by five wickets and captured the Asia Cup Trophy for the ninth time. However, the Indian team refused to take the trophy at the hands of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Minister Mohsin Naqvi after the final match of Asia Cup 2025. According to the PTI report, Naqvi was standing on one side before the prize distribution ceremony started and the Indian players were standing within 15 yards. He refused to withdraw from his places and the ceremony was delayed. Pakistani retired Major Adil Raja has reacted to this incident. He wrote on X (East Twitter) that the Indian cricket team refuses to take the Asia Cup trophy at the hands of Pakistan’s Home Minister Mohsin Naqvi is an insult. His actions directly humiliate the Pakistani Army General Asim Munir.
The Pakistani team did not come out of the dressing room until an hour after the match was over. Only PCB president Naqvi kept standing alone and kept on shame. After about 55 minutes, when the Pakistani team came out, the audience raised slogans of ‘India India’. Even before the final, there was speculation that the Indian players would not take the trophy from Naqvi if they win. Naqvi is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Home Minister of his country and is known for his anti -India attitude. The Indian team has adopted a policy of not joining hands with anyone from Pakistan and not having any conversation beyond the field.
Disputed video of Naqvi
Naqvi had recently put a video of Cristiano Ronaldo on X, in which he was celebrating the goal, pointing to the plane crash. Pakistan’s disputed fast bowler Haris Rauf also made the same inflammatory gesture against India during the Super 4 match on 21 September, due to which he was fined.
