New Delhi. In the Women’s World Cup 2025 match played in Colombo, India’s women’s team registered a big win over Pakistan by 50 runs. This is Team India’s second consecutive win in this tournament. Earlier we defeated Sri Lanka in our first match. India’s victory stars Richa Ghosh and Kranti Gaur, who took three wickets each, completely destroyed Pakistan’s batting order. India scored 247 runs at the loss of 10 wickets in the prescribed 50 overs while batting first. While chasing the goal, Pakistan’s women’s team was all out for 153 runs after batting 43 overs.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur did not join hands with Pakistan captain Fatima Sana during the toss, while maintaining the policy of ‘not joining hands’ of India’s men’s team in the Asia Cup. There was a lot of close decisions on the pitch and there was conflict which worsened the Indian players.
Opener Pratik Rawal (31) made India start fast by hitting three consecutive fours in Diana Baig’s balls. But star batsman Smriti Mandhana (23) was once again dismissed inside the powerplay, causing the top order to come under initial pressure. After avoiding LBDBlu’s appeal off Baig’s ball, Mandhana was dismissed in the ninth over of captain Fatima Sana.
The disciplined bowlers of Pakistan made a clever change in the line and speed and kept a curb on the batsmen. He did not allow the Indian batsmen to come into the rhythm and took wickets at regular intervals. Fast bowler Baig took four for 69 runs while Fatima Sana took two wickets for 38 runs. Rawal was the next batsman to be dismissed, she was bowled by Sadia Iqbal. Deol, playing with restraint, shared a 39 -run partnership with captain Harmanpreet Kaur (19) and then added 45 runs with Jemima Rodrigues (32).
Harmanpreet was seen in the rhythm but Diana Baig’s ball touched the inner edge of her bat and went into the hands of the wicketkeeper. Harleen was dismissed in an attempt to hit the shot. Pakistan kept constant pressure. Jemima had got a life for two runs, she was the next batsman to be dismissed by 32 runs. The experienced pair of Deepti Sharma (25) and Sneh Rana (20) then shared a 42 -run partnership and handled the innings.
The Indian team was finally trying to raise runs fast. But Sana and Baig returned to the death overs and dismissed both. Pakistan put pressure in the final overs but Richa scored three fours and two sixes. The Indian innings was reduced to the final ball and Richa remained unbeaten.
