New Delhi. The Indian women’s team suffered the first defeat in the third T20 on Friday on the tour of England. England kept the five -match T20 series alive in the match played at the Oval. Chasing 171 runs, India could score 166 runs in 20 overs and England won by five runs. With this victory, England made the lead of Harmanpreet Kaur-led team 1-2. However, England’s score could have been even bigger if India had not made a new world record of taking 9 wickets in the lowest balls in international cricket history.

England was at 137/0 in 15.1 overs and was moving towards a big score, then Deepti Sharma gave the first breakthrough to India by dismissing Sophia Dunkle (75 runs in 53 balls). After this wicket, the England team lost 9 wickets inside 25 balls, which is now an international record.

Deepti Sharma’s 300 wickets

Indian all -rounder Deepti Sharma recorded 3/27 bowling figures in four overs and with this she completed 300 wickets at the international level. She became the sixth bowler to do so. Fast bowling giant Jhulan Goswami (355) holds the record for the most wickets in women’s international cricket history, followed by Catherine Science-Brant (335), Ellis Perry (331), Shabnim Ismail (317) and Anisa Mohammed (305).

England’s victory survives the series
The series is alive after England’s five -run win. Dunkley won the Player of the Match award for his brilliant half -century innings. He hit seven fours and a six in his innings. The fourth match will be played on 9 July at Old Trafford, Manchester.
