India-Bangladesh series postponed, long wait for Virat-Rohit’s return, BCCI confirmed

New Delhi. Team India will not go on a tour of Bangladesh this year. The limited over series was to be played between India and Bangladesh this year which has been postponed. The Indian Cricket Board said on Saturday that the series has been postponed till September 2026 after the mutual consent of both the cricket boards. 3 ODI and 3 T20 matches were to be played between India and Bangladesh. Due to the postponement of the series, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s wait for return in ODIs has also become long. Both players have retired from T20 and Tests. Kohli and Pant will now be seen only in ODIs.

BCCI said that this decision has been taken after discussions between the two boards. In which the convenience of international cricket commitments and schedule of both teams has been taken into consideration. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is eager to welcome the Indian team for this series in September 2026. The new date and schedule of this series will be announced in the coming days.

The series was to be played between India-Bangladesh from August 17

The series of ODI and T20 matches between India and Bangladesh was to be played from 17 August 2025. Team India is currently on a tour of England where it is playing with the 5 -match Test series hosts. The Indian team’s tour of England will run till August 4. After this, India had to visit Bangladesh. The series was to begin between India and Bangladesh from 17 August. According to the scheduled schedule, India was proposed to have three ODIs and 3 T20 matches against Bangladesh.
