Maryam, a resident of Islamabad in Pakistan, is living with her Indian husband in Khurja town of Bulandshahr. He has made an emotional appeal to the Government of India to allow him to remain in the country. She told that she had come to India on a short-term visa two months ago and applied for a long-term visa as soon as she arrived. Maryam was married to Aamir, a resident of Khurja, three years ago. She says, ‘Where my husband is, that is my house. I want to be here.
There were a total of five Pakistani women including Mary in Bulandshahr
According to sources, the UP government had started the process of identifying Pakistani citizens living in the state on the instructions of the central government and sending them back. There were a total of five Pakistani women, including Maryam in Bulandshahr, four have already been sent to Pakistan. Now Maryam is yet to be sent.
However, the state government did not mention the exact number of Pakistani citizens sent back or their visa details (short term or long term). It was also not told who was the last Pakistani citizen to leave India on 30 April.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, the central government had issued an immediate advisory to all states to send back Pakistani citizens. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while taking quick action, convened a high -level meeting with the officials and other agencies of the Home Department, in which all the districts were instructed to locate Pakistani citizens and reach them to the limit.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Tejveer Singh said that Maryam has applied for the residence and further action will be taken on the instructions of the higher officials.
Maryam expressed grief over the Pahalgam terror attack and said, ‘I am very sad with this attack. Those who are involved in this should be punished severely. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a tough stand in this regard and instructed all the districts to find Pakistani citizens and send them back as soon as possible.
