Satellites 36 thousand km. They will be able to communicate among themselves at the height. This will make it easier to send signals to the earth, send messages and messages.

After Operation Sindoor, India is now going to further strengthen its military strength in space. The government has decided that up to 2029 (in the next 4 years) 52 special defense satellites will be sent to space, all these satellite will become India’s eyes in space and will continuously monitor the Pakistan-China border.

Satellites Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be based. 36 thousand km They will be able to communicate among themselves at the height. This will make it easier to send signals to the earth, send messages and messages.

The entire campaign is being run under the Defense Space Agency and for this the government will expedite the ‘Space-Based Surveillance Phase-3’ (SBS-3) scheme of ₹ 26,968 crore. Earlier, it was approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security in October 2024.

ISRO and 3 private Indian companies participation

Under this scheme, ISRO will create and launch 21 satellites, while 31 satellites will produce three Indian private companies. The first satellite will be launched by April 2026, but efforts are on to further reduce the deadline. These satellites will be deployed in low-ear orbit and geostationary orbit.

According to a senior official, “The aim of SBS-3 is to cover the Pakistan, China and the Indian Ocean region in greater detail, so that high resolution monitoring is possible in a short time.”

Haps aircraft will also increase strength

Apart from ISRO satellites, the Air Force is also preparing to buy three high-altitude platform systems (HAPS) aircraft. These will be unmanned aircraft such as drones that will help in monitoring by flying at a long period of height. These will strengthen the monitoring capabilities of satellites.

Haps aircraft usually fly 18 to 20 kilometers (60,000 ft) above the earth and can remain in one place for a long time.

After Operation Sindoor, there is a boom in implementing the scheme

India took heavy military action against Jaish-e-Mohammed during Operation Sindoor between 7 and 10 May 2025. According to the Economic Times (ET) report, native satellites and some foreign commercial data were used during this period, but real -time tracking revealed many flaws.

“We have to accelerate the pace of our decisions. The sooner we install 52 satellites in space, the stronger our security will be.”

China’s threat from space preparations

India’s move is also in response to China’s fast -growing space militaryization. In 2010, where China had only 36 military satellites, today it has more than 1000 satellites, of which more than 360 are for monitoring (ISR) works. China also has weapons such as anti-satellite missiles, co-arbitrary satellites, electronic warfare systems and laser.

Bajpai government launched SBS mission in 2001

India’s Space Based Surveillance (SBS) mission was started in 2001 by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Bajpai. Four satellites were launched in 2001 under SBS 1 program. In which Risat was the chief. After this, 6 satellites were launched in 2013 in SBS 2 mission.

3 different satellites for Indian Army

1. ISRO first launched the GSAT-7 satellite for the Indian Navy in 2013. It is also called Rukmini.

2. Five years later in 2018, the GSAT-7A or Angry Bird Satellite was launched for the Air Force.

3. The GSAT-7 satellite was approved in 2023 for the Army. It can be installed in space by 2026.
