India Team for Asia Cup 2025: Indian team announced, Surya captain, Shubman Gill becomes vice -captain

India Team Announced for Asia Cup 2025: India has declared a team for the Asia Cup. Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the team. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar announced the 15 -member Indian team on Tuesday. Shubman Gill has been made the vice -captain of the team. He has returned to the T20 team after one year. The Asia Cup 2025 hosts are India but will be played in UAE compared to it. The reason for this is the poor relations of India and Pakistan. If the Asia Cup matches were held in India, Pakistan could have done a boys for the tournament or he would have demanded to be held in some other country. The BCCI decided to take the middle way to the tournament in UAE and made it useless Pakistan’s attempt to create any dispute.

Year changed and format too

The Asia Cup is to be played after two years. Last time this tournament was played in ODI format. This time it will be played in T20 format. Players have also changed with changing the format. In 2023, when India won the Asia Cup after defeating Sri Lanka, Rohit Sharma was the captain and Virat Kohli was the biggest star of the team. Both these players have now retired from T20 and Test formats. Therefore, there was no question of being selected in his team. Yes, Shreyas Iyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal were contestants to be elected in the team but the selectors did not consider him worthy.
