Design and development
Tejas: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has built a light fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force (IAF). It is designed by Indian technical experts and the aircraft is manufactured indigenously.
JF-17: JF-17 (also known as Thunder) has been developed by Pakistan in collaboration with China. The aircraft is for the Air Force of both Pakistan and China, and is designed by the China Aerospace Corporation (CAC).

JF-17:

- Range: 1,200 km (with internal fuel), air fuel refueling can be used for more range.
- Limit of operation: up to 50,000 feet.
- Armament: 23mm guns, air to air and ground missiles, bombs.
- Features: low cost, effective operation, 4 generation technical features.
Security records of both aircraft
The security record of Tejas fighter aircraft has been much better. It crashed for the first time in March 2024. During this time the pilot was safely out.
JF-17 has become a victim of accidents many times, due to which questions are being raised on its safety and credibility. Since 2011, four JF-17 aircraft have crashed, in which the pilots have also died.

Tejas: Tejas costs around $ 30–40 million per aircraft.
JF-17: The JF-17 costs around $ 15-20 million per aircraft, making it cheaper than Tejas.
