India is going to create new history in the field of space. Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla is scheduled to become the first Indian astronaut to travel to International Space Station (ISS) under Axiom Mission 4 (AX-4). Now the launch date of this mission has come out which will be launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Air Force pilot is Shubhanshu
Indian astronauts who are also part of the Gaganyaan Mission will leave for the special station from Kennedy Space Center in May 2025. This mission is an important step in India’s participation in International Space Research. The Indian Air Force (IAF) veteran pilot Shubhanshu SpaceX will serve as a mission pilot on the dragon spacecraft. He is also a astronaut nominated for India’s ambitious Gaganyaan Human Space Flight Program.

The X-4 mission will be headed by NASA’s former NASA astronaut Paigi Whitson and will be the Savoz Ujnanski-Visnivsky from Poland and Tibor Capu Mission experts from Hungary. The aim of this 14 -day mission is to make scientific experiments, educational outreach and commercial activities in microgravity. Shubhanshu has a plan to take artifacts from different regions and he will showcase India’s cultural heritage by doing yoga postures in space.
Private astronaut access to space
Shubhanshu Shukla’s participation shows India’s growing role in Global Space Research, which is running at the footsteps of Rakesh Sharma, who has the distinction of becoming the first Indian to go to space in 1984. The cooperation between NASA, Axiom Space and ISRO shows the increasing reach of private astronaut to the Earth’s lower orbit, which will lead to permanent space research.
