The banned militant organization ULFA (I) on Sunday (July 13, 2025) claimed that the Indian Army has carried out drone attacks on its camps on the Myanmar border, although the Indian Armed Forces have not confirmed the incident.
At the same time, the militant organization Ulfa (I) issued a statement saying that many of its camps were attacked with drones in the early hours of Sunday. The banned organization claimed that Nayan Asom alias Nayan Medhi was killed in the attacks, who was the chairman of the lower council of the organization, while around 19 others were injured.
There is no information about any such incident- Indian Army
On contacting, the defense spokesperson told PTI-language that there is no information about any such incident. Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat of the Indian Army said, “The Indian Army has no information about any such operation.”
The militant organization issued a statement regarding double attack
ULFA (I) issued another statement after the Indian Army did not confirm the attack. In the statement, the organization claimed that when its killed member was being cremated, missiles were fired at his camp.
The organization said that two other senior members Brigadier Ganesh Asom and Colonel Pradeep Asom were killed in the second round attacks, while several other members and citizens were also injured.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said about the case
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma denied the involvement of the state police on Sunday (July 13) or an attack from the state area and said that the situation would be clear by evening. He told reporters during an official visit to Golaghat district, “Assam Police is not involved in this case and no attack has been carried out from our area.”
He said, “The Indian Army issues a statement in the event of such campaigns, but no statement has been issued so far. More information is required in this matter. I believe that the situation will be clear by evening.”
