Preparations for Bihar Assembly Election have intensified. The Election Commission has been involved in the review work to conduct elections. Earlier, a mobile app has been introduced, which allows voters to vote from home without going to voting centers. Bihar has become the first state in India, which has allowed voters to vote through mobile apps. It is being potentially seen as a new era in the democratic process.

Bihar State Election Commissioner Deepak Prasad announced on Friday that on 28 June 2025, there will be E-Voting during six Municipal Corporation-Patna, Rohtas and two in East Champaran during two municipal corporation elections. The project, which was started as a pilot project during the municipal elections in six councils, is to make voting accessible for people unable to reach voting centers. Along with this, advanced technology is to be provided to ensure safety and transparency.

Who will get this facility?
This facility launched for Bihar elections is especially for those who are unable to go to voting centers. This facility is designed for senior citizens, disabled persons, pregnant women, migrant workers and others. According to Deepak Prasad, 10 thousand voters have registered for e-voting and will be able to exercise their franchise through e-voting without going to 50 thousand voters, centers.

How does an e-voting system work?

  • Only two registered voters can log in from a mobile number.
  • Each vote will be verified with the details of the voter ID card to ensure validity.

Prasad insisted that strong digital safety measures are applicable and migrant laborers, migrant voters, elderly, senior citizens, disabled voters, pregnant women and seriously ill voters will be able to use their votes using this process.

How to register for e-voting in Bihar?

  2. First of all download the E-SECBHR app (currently available only for Android device).
  3. Link the app to your mobile number registered in the voter list.
