October 2025 is going to be very important for India’s aviation sector. During this month, the two largest cities of the country, Delhi and Mumbai, are going to get new international airports. Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) may be inaugurated on 8 October. At the same time, Noida International Airport (NIA) is expected to be inaugurated on October 30 after Deepawali.
The introduction of these two airports will help in reducing the congestion of passengers at the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai and facilitates air traffic. With this, Delhi and Mumbai, New York, London, Tokyo and Paris will join the list of selected cities. Where more than one airport is available to serve the passengers of a city.
Indian airlines will increase expansion
The introduction of NMIA and NIA symbolizes a major change in the aviation sector of India. Despite rapidly increasing air traffic, most of the big cities of the country are dependent on only one airport. The new airport for passengers means not only traveling from Delhi and Mumbai, but more travel options and easy connectivity in a broad global network.
For airlines like Indigo, Air India and Akasa, upcoming airports will provide large -scale capacity expansion and new routes opportunities. Industry experts believe that the new airports will convert Delhi-NCR and Mumbai-MMR into Global Aviation Center, which will help Indian airlines to compete strongly with the Middle East and Europe’s airlines.
Noida International Airport will become Delhi Aviation Center
The current airports of Mumbai and Goa are operating at almost full capacity, while Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is still scope for development with three terminals and four runs. However, with the commencement of Noida International Airport, Delhi can be accelerated as India’s largest aviation center.
