Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation three warships INS Surat (Destroyer), INS Nilgiri (Stealth Frigate) and INS Waghshir (Submarine) at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai on Wednesday. The strength of the Indian Navy will further increase with these three ultra-modern warships.
PM Modi said in his post on Tuesday, ‘January 15 is going to be a special day for our naval capabilities. The induction of three frontline naval combat ships will strengthen our efforts to become a global leader in defense and strengthen our quest towards self-reliance.
INS Nilgiri (Stealth Frigate)
- This is the first ship of the P17A stealth frigate project.
- This design has been prepared by the Warship Design Bureau of the Indian Navy.
- This includes advanced survivability, sea-keeping.
- This symbolizes the next generation of indigenous frigates.
- It has stealth technology and the ability to stay in the sea for a long time.
- Chetak, Advanced Light Helicopter, can operate MH-60R helicopter.
- It has advanced sensors and weapon system.
INS Surat (Destroyer)
- This is the fourth and final ship of the P15B Guided Missile Destroyer project.
- It is one of the largest and most impressive destroyers in the world. It has 75% indigenous content.
- It is equipped with advanced network and advanced weapon sensor package.
INS Waghshir (submarine)
- The P75 Scorpene is the sixth and last submarine of the Project Kalvari class.
- The help of French Navy Group has been taken in making it.
- One of the world’s quietest and most versatile diesel-electric submarines.
- It is also equipped with anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, wire-guided torpedoes, anti-ship missiles and advanced sonar systems.

Aircraft Carriers: Aircraft carriers are warships that serve as sea air bases. It has a full length flying deck and facilities to transport, arm, deploy and recover aircraft.

cruiser Cruiser is a type of warship. Advanced cruisers are typically the largest ships in a fleet, including aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships. These are multi tasking.
Destroyer
Destroyers are fast, maneuverable and long-range warships. Its job is to protect other ships in the fleet during war. Most destroyers are equipped with warship missile systems.
frigate Frigate is a type of warship. It is used in different ways according to the need. In advanced navies, frigates are used to protect other warships and merchant ships.
Corvette Corvette is a small warship. This is the smallest class traditionally considered a proper battleship. A corvette typically weighs between 500 tons and 2,000 tons. Recent designs can reach up to 3,000 tons.

Submarine moves underwater. Submarines, despite their size, are viewed as boats rather than ships.
These include many techniques like fiber-optic, air independent propulsion (AIP), wavelength-division multiplexing, optical add/drop multiplexing (OADM), hydroacoustic monitoring.
amphibious assault ship
Amphibious assault ships are used to land ground forces in enemy territory. Modern ships support amphibious landing craft.
Most designs include a well deck. Some amphibious assault ships also support fixed-wing aircraft.
