The Indian Navy will launch its state -of -the -art and deadly stealth warship ‘INS Tamal’ in Calinignagrad, Russia on Tuesday. This multi -purpose warship is not only capable of escaping the eyes of the enemy, but it is also equipped with state -of -the -art techniques to compete with surface, air and submarine attacks.
Sanjay J Singh, the chief Vice Admiral of Western Navy Command, will preside over the ceremony. Many top defense and government officials of India and Russia will also witness this historic moment.
Symbol of self -sufficient India
INS Tamal is the eighth and second warship of the Tursi category of frigates of the Cruel class. It has been built in the Yantra Shipyard of Russia and is constructed under the direct supervision of the Indian Navy. The ship has up to 26% indigenous equipment, including BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
This warship is in line with the self -sufficient India and Make in India initiative of the Government of India. India is now creating two more warships with this technology in Goa Shipyard Limited.
The design of Tamal was designed in collaboration with the Russian Savernoe Design Bureau and Indian experts, which extended indigenous material to 33 systems, including Indian manufacturers such as BrahMos Aerospace, Bharat Electronics Limited, Caltron, Tata’s Nova Integrated Systems. The maximum speed of this warship is 30 knots and it is more powerful than its weight with high stamina.
The specialty of INS Tamal
- This 3900 tons weighing and 125 meter long warships have surface -to -air missile lens.
- The Tamal warship is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including the BrahMos supersonic missile system, which has anti-ship and land-attacked capabilities.
- Additionally, it includes Surface Surveillance Radar Complex, Humsa NG MK II Sonar with anti-sabmerine weapon firing complex, and many indigenous state-of-the-art weapons and sensors.

Apart from this, this ship also has the capacity of multipurpose helicopter operations, which increases its firepower even more.
Mythological heritage and confluence of modern warfare
The name of this warship is ‘Tamal’, a symbol of the divine sword used by the king of the gods Indra for the war. Its mascot is – ‘The Great Beers’, which is inspired by Raja Jambavant and Russian brown bear of Indian mythology. Its motto is: ‘Sarvada everywhere Vijaya’ (victorious all the time).
